Case Study · Imfactory

The website has been built in such a way that it can be easily expanded.

ImFactory needed a website that wouldn’t be limited to a few pre-defined subpage templates. We wanted each page to be laid out according to the content it presents, whilst maintaining a consistent look and feel.

The Challenge

A wealth of content, one cohesive system

ImFactory is a website that is constantly evolving. Alongside information about services and solutions, new content, articles, webinars and events are regularly added. On top of this, there are separate pages for individual sectors and products.
We didn’t want to confine all this to a few rigid templates. At the same time, the complete freedom offered by Gutenberg would mean running the risk that subsequent subpages would start to look completely different.
So we needed a system that would give the ImFactory team the freedom to create pages, whilst at the same time ensuring that the pre-designed layout was maintained.

Our approach

Instead of templates — a set of ready-made elements

  • We have designed the website as a library of ready-made sections that can be combined to create different types of subpages.
  • These blocks can be freely combined, rearranged and populated with content within the WordPress editor.
  • We have created over a dozen custom ACF blocks, tailored specifically to this project.
  • Articles, events, webinars and podcasts each have their own structures and categories, making it easy to organise them and display them in different sections of the site.
Process

From mock-ups to a block library in four stages.

01

UX/UI Design

Instead of individual subpages, we created a set of modules — hero sections, feature cards, timelines, accordions and sliders — from which every page is composed, from the homepage to the industry and solutions subpages.

02

Block architecture

We grouped the blocks according to where they are used: global, homepage, about us, industries, webinars, transformation and contact. They are all managed by a single function.

03

Development

A bespoke theme built on a custom starter kit. ACF fields, content types with taxonomies, Ajax ‘Load More’ filtering, sliders and bilingual support.

04

Ongoing development

Since 2023, we have been developing the site on an ongoing basis: new blocks, webinar and events sections, a blog, plugin updates and minor improvements requested by the client’s team.

Block editor

Websites built using ready-made blocks.

The client selects a block from the list - Hero, Accordion, Timeline, Upcoming Events, Form - fills in the fields in the side panel and immediately sees the result in the editor. The layout, colours and spacing are handled by the code, so every new subpage remains consistent with the rest of the website.

Key features

What we delivered.

01

Subpages built from pre-designed blocks

The ImProdis, ImGo, APS and AI Platform websites are all made up of the same blocks: a hero section with an optional pop-up video, benefit cards, accordions and CTAs. The client adds these in Gutenberg and fills in the ACF fields in the sidebar.

02

Services landing page

For services such as the Digital Transformation Roadmap, dedicated blocks have been created: development stages, project deliverables and benefit tiles. These can be combined with global blocks, such as a contact form or an article slider.

03

Long-form expert content

The Transformation Essentials and knowledge compendia are lengthy, numbered documents containing a large amount of text. A special slider block and sections featuring tool lists organise the content into clear chapters, and the client edits everything in ACF fields, without the need for manual formatting.

04

Events that update automatically

Conferences and webinars are a separate type of content with their own categories, dates and locations. The ‘Upcoming Events’ block automatically selects the nearest dates and displays them on the homepage and elsewhere on the website. Once an event has been added in the dashboard, it appears wherever the block has been placed.

05

Knowledge base with Ajax filtering

Articles, webinars and podcasts are assigned to a post type with taxonomies for industries, solutions, content types and authors. The list is filtered using Ajax Load More with the Filters add-on — without reloading the page, and with a reset button.

Mobile

Every block is also designed for mobile.

Responsiveness is built into every block’s template, so the editor doesn’t need to worry about it. Tabs turn into sliders, the hero section has a separate layout with a gradient for tablets, and the mobile menu opens in full-screen mode.

Key changes and optimisations

What the client gained.

01

Self-service editing

Clients can create new landing pages for industries, solutions, webinars or the MES pilot programme for SMEs themselves, using ready-made blocks.

02

Search and filter

Ajax filtering by product parameters, sorting by five criteria and a site-wide search function. Filter options are sourced from the database rather than a hard-coded list.

03

Performance

Custom image sizes, separate hero graphics for mobile devices, and optimised loading of scripts and styles.

04

Maintenance and editing

Templates built from over 100 ACF sections, interface texts translated in Polylang and Google Tag Manager implemented. The client’s team creates new subpages themselves via the admin panel.
